Diving

Whether you are a certified diver and would like to do some fun dives, or if you are a beginner who would like to learn for the first time, there is something for everyone! The Caribbean coral reefs shelter 35 species of coral, as well as dolphins and more than a hundred species of reef fish creating a huge bio-diversity unique to Costa Rica.

Angelfish, parrotfish, triggerfish, sharks and different species of jack and snapper are among the 475 species of discovered fish. Brown and black coral, sheet coral and lettuce coral are a few of the 31 discovered types of coral you will encounter on your dives. This is also a turtle breeding area. No less than 3 species inhabit these waters and they are constant companions to our divers.

You will find the highest security and quality standards. All boats are equipped with oxygen kits and automatic external defibrillators and all crew members are trained basic life support professionals. We can pick you up at local beachfront hotels in the area to start your scuba adventure. The best time of the year for top dive conditions – good visibility (20-30 meters or 60-90 feet) and no current, are from mid January through May and August through November.

All divers must reserve a spot on the boat in advance. Even if you’ve never dived before and aren’t certified, you can still dive! Just add a Discover Scuba course to your diving package. This is a quick 2-hour course designed to familiarize a new diver with equipment and safety. Completion of this course allows the diver to participate in diving with us during his or her stay in Puerto Viejo for a period of 2 weeks.
