Cahuita National Park has the only mature coral reef on the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica. The reef holds over 240 species and includes both Elkhorn and smooth brain coral. You can only snorkel with a permitted guide. A real beautiful place to snorkel.
Coupled with a hike along the beautiful white sand beaches with slanting coconut trees, and then through the tropical rainforest, observing the range of different animals such as maraschino monkeys, sloths, butterflies, porcupines and raccoons. this is a wonderful way to view the park and reef. The tropical forest is a great place to observe.
